Together

Mum said she wanted us to pose nicely together for her special blip; here we are sleeping on the human’s bed on this sunny, but quite windy day. However, we think this might be the wrong day! Well we are posing together, what more does she want?

Love from Dougal and Florence.

Just Now The Lilac Is In Bloom

Today I decided that as the builders were not on site, it was time that I did some intensive housework; I am not noted for doing housework!

So I got our new Karcher Window Vac out of its box, charged it up and proceeded to clean the patio doors, I had done thirteen sides when it refused to work. Dead battery I assumed, but when I put it on charge it glowed a steady green. My husband thinks it is a switch that is stuck and the machine will not switch on or off. The manufacturers were emailed, no reply yet.

I did the remaining five panes, using Mr Muscle window cleaner and elbow grease. The Karcher is good for getting rain splashes and dirt off the window, but I also got a lot of streaks. I think once I have one that works I will use it first to clean the windows and then go over them again with Mr Muscle to get rid of the streaks and make them shine.

Next I tackled the shower room, the grouting is now dry and although they have been cleaned twice, a third washing was needed. I was not aware that tilers made such a mess when grouting tiles; another thorough wash is in order. Having said that, the shower room is almost finished, as far as the builders are concerned, although we will have the tiler back, who we employed, to tile three more floors.

Today’s picture is of the side of one of our Lilac bushes; this view is hardly ever photographed. The grass was cut last week, but looks as though it needs cutting again.

Orange

I spent much of the day, except when dealing with student paperwork, doing the building project paperwork and finances.

The yellow Broome in the garden is now beginning to fade, but the orange one is at its best; the two red ones are just beginning to open their first buds, which is why today’s picture is or some of the flowers on the orange Broome.

Rebuilding and Modernisation Saga
One of the builder's workers arrived this morning at 0815 hours to continue sorting out the existing bathroom; he left at 1113 hours to go to another job. He will be back on Wednesday and on Friday both he and the plumbers are coming back. The plumbers had said they would not return for six weeks, but the builder cannot continue until they have connected some more pipework. It is amazing what the words, breach of contract and solicitors can do. I am beginning to get very cross, the timescale was ten weeks, weather permitting and the weather has stopped them only half of one day. Work started on Tuesday 2 December 2014, I make that twenty-three weeks! I will not be recommending them to anyone.

European Grey Squirrel

A fairly lazy Sunday catching up on reading and various jobs. Yesterday, after posting my blip, two Fallow deer wandered into the garden. The camera was upstairs and had the wrong lens on it so the resulting photographs were not very good. Today, I had the camera downstairs, with the correct lens on all day, no sign of them!

Instead I chose this European Grey Squirrel, raiding the peanuts, no doubt his feeder box is empty again.

Haverhill Church

This morning we went to collect my new spectacles from Spec Savers in Haverhill. They are the same prescription as my others, but I decided I needed a spare pair, these are purple and I have a purple case for them.

While I was there I decided to photograph the tree in front of the Church to compare with two others I have taken recently. There may not be many others in this series, as I do not often go to Haverhill.

While we were there we had a look around the market and I purchased some runner bean, tomato and courgette plants. I shall not plant them out yet as in our garden there is still a risk of ground frost. I hope that they will grow and that they will not become deer food!
