Florence

Well, I would not pose yesterday and I shall not do so today either!

Here I am standing on the wall looking over the garden. I must say it still looks a mess, although there are some pretty flowers in bloom. Me and Dougal have been allowed out for most of today although we had to come in when the builder arrived. Our real mum and our older sister’s human mum came today and stayed for lunch.

Love and purrkisses to all our animal friends and especially big hugs to KB.

Dougal

Todays picture is of me and what SHE calls an emergency blip! It was going to be of Florence, but she would not pose and kept scratching and now we have to have ‘flea stuff’ and ‘worm tablets’.

Do you know we have not been outside all day? We were kept in because THEY were going out! Then there was a delivery and then another man, they call him ‘sparky’, stupid name for anyone, came. He was here all day and we could see him from the window when he was in OUR garden getting stuff out of his van.

THEY did not come home until it was dark and Daddy had a stupid white patch on his eye, which I did not like.

This picture shows me sitting on the arm of the sofa and shows the window behind me, well it is supposed to be a window but so far there is no glass in it. I hope we can go out tomorrow; I miss running about outside, catching rats and mice.

Blue Flowers

Today’s blip is of these little blue flowers; so far there are only two showing through the ground. These have bravely struggled through, in part of the border, which our first builders destroyed.

Every year I blip these blue flowers and every year I forget their names; no doubt someone will tell me what they are again this year.

Today it is dry, but not particularly warm. The builder who was here this morning finished at lunch time so Dougal and Florence went out into the garden. I am not sure how long Florence stayed out, but just after lunch I noticed she was back in her upstairs bed; obviously too cold for her.

Hellebores

This morning we went into Bishops’ Stortford town, before going to Wickes to purchase the wall tiles for the bath and shower rooms. We also had an appointment with a kitchen designer, who in just over an hour produced, first time the kitchen with the items exactly where we wanted them. Houdens have now had three attempts and still not got it right! We went to Homebase who we have also asked to design the kitchen. We left them with our sketch and plan as we did not have time to stay and do it with them today; we will go back on Saturday to see what they have come up with.

We also found the perfect garden furniture, which will fit exactly where we want it to in the garden. Our current smaller table and four chairs will be refurbished by my husband and will then be placed on the balcony.

After we arrived home the furniture for the bath and shower rooms arrived. It is fortunate that we were home, as the builders had not said it was coming! Dan, the boss of the steelworks, who fitted our balcony also visited, as a social call, to see how the work was progressing and to have coffee.

Today’s picture is of some of the Hellebores in the garden, we seem to have pink and white ones flowering this year.

Spring Flowers

A working day today and not much time for taking photographs, but there were quite a few spring flowers out in the garden; today’s blip is of some of those spring flowers.

Miniature Daffodils

Today I have cleaned some of our windows and doors. Once the building work is complete, I will have thirteen doors with full-length glass in them. Counting all the panes in all of our windows and doors there are forty-six panes, some very large, that makes ninety-two sides! I will be purchasing a Karcher Window Vac at the earliest opportunity.

Other than that I have caught up on some paper work ready for the coming week, which will be busy. The weather was sunny and bright this morning, but clouded over in the afternoon, ready for some rain.

Sybil

This morning we went into Bishops’ Stortford to get a few things, then went to Wickes to look at various items. The tiles we originally chose are out of stock and likely to be so for a while. However, we have found some very similar in Wickes, which will be fine for the bath and shower room walls. We will re-check our measurements and then order them from Wickes.

Houdens, the kitchen people who our builder deals with have still not managed to get the draft kitchen as we want it. The last draft included two boilers, the new one on the wall where it is going and the old one still in situ! There were also several other minor things wrong, so we looked at kitchens in Wickes. There was one in particular that we liked so we will make an appointment and get them to design one to our specification. Hopefully they will not take three attempts at getting it right. We purchased a new bathroom cabinet and various other things including paint and emulsion.

I spent the entire afternoon hovering and cleaning, not that it looks much different now and no doubt there will be more mess made on Monday.

Today’s picture is once again of Sybil who I went to feed, along with her mother Polo, at tea-time. The family are at the British Schools Judo competition in Sheffield where Victoria won bronze, beaten by the gold and silver medallists who were black belts. Victoria is a brown belt, but as well as winning a bronze, she also gained ten points towards her black belt. Oliver fought well and did himself proud, but did not win a medal this time.
