Last Tuesday when we were into Bishop’s Stortford, we left our
kitchen sketch with one of the kitchen designers so that he could work on it
without us being with him. Today we went back to see what he had produced; it
was very close to being exactly the way we wanted it. He had not drawn one of
the windows, which is neither here nor there and had missed out one wall
cupboard.
Howdens, who our builder recommended, have had several attempts at
producing what we want and have visited three times. Yesterday our builder rang
him from our home and I spoke to the manager, he was going to ring me back, in
about five minutes, so that corrections could be made. Now over twenty-four
hours later he has not done so. It seems that despite the manager measuring our
kitchen and making suggestions, they were very confused by Bill’s sketch. I am
more confused that one designer could get it just about right first time, just from
the same drawings when another designer is confused by it, gets things wrong
and designs a kitchen with two boilers in situ.
We have now chosen the kitchen we want and agreed on various things
such as taps, dishwasher, oven and hob; it has come in at a price very close to
our budget. Someone will visit on Tuesday to check the location of such things
as gas and electricity supplies and then we will finalise the deal on Tuesday
evening.
While we were out we purchased some new garden furniture, which is
today’s blip taken in the shop, from above. We have delayed delivery until the
middle of April, hopefully the weather will be better and maybe the builders
will be gone; or maybe not!
We also purchased a Karcher Window Vac and some other necessary
items. All I need now is a Dyson DC59 Animal vacuum cleaner, which is very light
so I will be able to carry it upstairs without damaging my arms!
